Parents: Let Your Voices Be Heard -- Again!

Thank you to Parents and Advocates for all you’ve already done.
We’re beginning a very important time in the process of the Reauthorization of IDEA. Once again it’s time to contact your Senators and Congresspersons and share your opinions about IDEA. The Congressional IDEA Working Group has been working long and hard in a collaborative effort to reach consensus on the Reauthorization. We appreciate all the work that’s been put into that process. The week of April 7th, Members of Congress will begin to make their decisions, so we need to educate them about the needs of our children. It is enormously important to personally make connections with your Members of Congress - they are the people that vote for or against the bills. There are several things you should stress to your Congressional leaders:

*Thanks to you and your staff for the work you have put into this reauthorization process.
*IDEA is a good law. It works!
*There should be no “cessation” of services.
*Eliminate “seriously disruptive” from the bills.
*Add your own personal issues.

Address you letters to: The Honorable _______________, US House of Representatives, Washington, DC 20515; or The Honorable ____________, US Senate, Washington, DC 20510; or call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)225-3121, (202)224-3121, or (800) 962- 3524.
